OUR HISTORY

Tucker is a family-held, third-generation corporation with a proud legacy of leadership spanning more than 60 years. We believe in the importance of investing generously in our people, business, industry, and local community.

Currently owned by Jeff Tucker and Jim Tucker, third-generation CEO and President respectively, they continue the legacy by helping some of the world’s top brands ensure the safe, on-time delivery of their freight using carefully designed procedures, cutting-edge technologies, and providing excellent service.

Tucker Company Worldwide was founded in 1961 by our grandfather, Jacob, who discovered a niche business opportunity rather late in his life. Ten years after building up the business, he passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack. Our father, Bill Tucker, never worked a day in his life for Jake – and yet, ended up buying the business a few months later, with no transportation experience to speak of. 

For the next 32 years, he immersed himself into the business and industry. As co-founder of TIA back in 1978, he helped shepherd this fledgling industry into what it is today. 

Jim and I worked for our father for over 10 years – and we truly started at the bottom. In fact, our first joint venture, J&J Janitorial Services, was founded in middle school. Every weekend dad would take us to the office and we’d clean everything – including the restrooms.

Our dad never pressured us into the business – but while we were in college, he decided to outline a 5-year plan for retirement, and we resolved to keep the legacy alive. And why wouldn’t we? After all, our father’s hard work had supplied us with everything we had ever needed or wanted. As it turns out, Jim and I share a passion for this business and this industry – and it’s really fueled our business success as well as our partnership. We are also lucky that we each have different skill sets that complement each other.

Jim is President of the company and he oversees the carrier side. Credit, collections, accounting – they report in to him. I serve as CEO, the customer-facing voice of Tucker. I oversee sales and marketing, as well as industry participation and leadership.

We are both incredibly proud of the wonderful team we support, and how together we’ve built an outstanding reputation in the industry, and a rich history of professionalism and leadership.
